A recreation of my mothers wedding with an air of modernity.

|| Sangeet ||

Mother is always one for dressing up and presenting her best self. During her sangeet, she took it to the max! Her fascination with the act of shringar (to adorn) was at its peak with this look. From the Diamonds cascading down her hands to the vivid hues of pinks and greens, she turned heads.

This marked the change from a woman to a wife and wanted to show this throughout the whole series through the use of props and imagery.

The rosewater sprinkler was traditionally used to cleans and invite positive vibrations. Therefore, as she began this new journey, she has begun to cleanse herself spiritually for this new journey ahead.

 Pomegranates represent the shift in sexual energy and its awaking.

|| Haldi ||

Her love for jewellery spilled over into her haldi look. Only wearing a white sari, she dressed it up with all the jewels to bring about the bridal feels, right down to the nath (nose ring).

With the haldi marking the purification, beautification and cleansing of a bride to be, the mangos represent the beginnings of attainment. Her attainment meaning a fruitful and fulfilling marriage.

|| Wedding ||

With the meeting of the families and husband for the first time, mother kept it elegant and chic. The look was curated to create a polished bride.

Red roses adorned her hair to show the shift in energies with a focus on fertility and rebirth as she adds the title of wife to her identity. This new title also adding a new beauty to her appearance with representations of marriage such a sindoor and the mangal surtra.

By having all 3 attributes together shows the union of these to represent some of the qualities when a woman becomes a wife.
